A mucked up trip to Prague

NOTE: For some reason, all the images of this post disappeared from my blog. I am trying to fix them ASAP. Meanwhile, please read the other posts

Plans and Screwed up plans

No matter how well you plan a trip, there are two things you can’t fight, bad weather and bad health. When it came to this trip, both these things were against me.

What I planned: I booked tickets to travel to Prague on my birthday and thought on to go further to Vienna from there before returning to Stockholm 4 days later.

What actually happened: I got sick just a day before I was supposed to go, and the flu was at its peak just the night before I had to go there, so I had to skip that flight and stay in Stockholm.

Reaching Prague

Well, the story didn’t end with me sleeping all day long at my apartment, when I finally got up at 5 PM, I was feeling a bit better (though I wasn’t, maybe it was just my urge to travel making me feel so), so I booked my flight for the next day to go to Prague, I had previously booked the stay and the return flight.

Now the biggest mistake I made while spending that 600 kr on that flight was, I didn’t check the weather forecast, so when I landed in there, I was welcomed by rain at the airport. However, the forecast said “mild-showers”, so I thought okay, it must get better by evening, but as usual, European weather defied the forecasts again, and it started to snow by the evening, and it continued to snow all night.

So, I spent another day sleeping, this time, in a different country, but yeah. Doing nothing but sleeping (and the fever was back after the excitement was gone). So bad health took a day out of this trip and I had to cancel traveling to Vienna, and now bad weather left me with just one day to see Prague.

Finally exploring Prague

Next day, when finally snowing stopped, I had a chance to go out and explore as much as possible in a day. Though the weather was still cold and not much travel-friendly.

That's what previous day's snow had done to the cars parked out there.

Now the plan was to at least visit the famous places, and explore the streets of the old town. Here are some pictures from the day.

Nearly all the metro stations look like this in Prague, just the accent colour changes, and yeah the really long escalators are ubiquitous in all of them.

And yeah! There are plenty of Indian restaurants like these, which are pretty cheap as well.

The Silver Lining

The best part of this trip were the cheap prices of everything in Prague, from food to staying, traveling, one of the examples being, A 11 SEK(32 CZK) ticket can take you from the Airport to the city center, I paid nearly 10 times of this to reach Arlanda airport.

This was also my first time staying with Airbnb, and I absolutely loved it. The two apartments I stayed at were impeccable and well maintained. If you’re traveling to Prague anytime soon, here are the links to those: Maxim’s ApartmentMartin’s Apartment.

And yes, don’t forget to try out these savory sweet bread’s, which are sold in nearly every corner of the town.

Though I wasn’t able to explore the city properly, nor could I go to other places I planned to. I look forward to going on a trip to Austria, Czech Republic, and Hungary sometime in the summer, I’m sure there won’t be any spoilsport from the weather for sure.
